First attempt at building a pc.

When I flip the switch, the BIOS starts to boot, but then the MoBo starts beeping incessantly, and I get the following error message:

BIOS ROM checksum error

Detecting IDE ATAPI device ...

Detecting floppy drive A media ...
Drive A error. System halt

I don't have a floppy drive, both my HDD and DVD drive are SATA II (and I have them connected to SATA1 & SATA2, respectively).

I'm guessing I somehow failed to tell the mobo that I don't have any IDE drives, but I haven't been able to figure out how to do that from looking at the manual. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Here's my configuration:
Case: CoolerMaster RC-541-SKR1 (el cheapo 380W PSU included)
MoBo: ASUS M2NPV-VM
CPU: AMD|A64 X2 4800+
RAM: Corsair 240P TWIN2X2048-6400C4
DVD: DVD BURN LITE-ON|LH-20A1L-06
HDD: HD 250G|WD 7K 16M SATA2 WD2500YS

Go into the BIOS and disable the floppy drive.

I can't seem to get into the BIOS settings. I've tried pressing Del, Ctl+Alt+Esc, Alt+F2 while booting, but nothing will let me in.

I found this listing of Award beep codes (http://www.computerhope.com/beep.htm#05) ... I guess I'll try re-seating the RAM (and only use one stick) next?

Am I just doing something wrong to get to the BIOS settings?

Disconnect all drives and then try again. Power up the computer and start hitting the Del key repeatedly until you get into CMOS Setup.

I disconnect the two SATA cords and retried, but no luck.

I unplugged everything except power, then retried with only one mem stick, and I got into BIOS!

Thanks for your help! I've got my fingers crossed from here ...
