I had codec issues that refuse to go away. Certain files that I was able to play before now will not play and cause media player or jet audio to lock up. I tried uninstalling divx and any other codec I could find and to no avail. I tried system restore and of course the classic result was that windows was refusing to restore itself back to a restore point. Another reason why I hate restore. Never works when you want it to.

Anyway, a buddy of mine suggested I download Xvid codec and Vlc player. That did the trick and I was able to play the video files without them locking up the programs when I tried to play them.
