My friend needs some pixs from her hard drive. I set it up as a slave and it shows up as drive F: with my master as C. When I click on F it wants to reformat. How can I just read and save the info without reformatting?
The drive F: is saying that it is RAW it is IDE drive C is NTFS it is ATA
Both hard drives have XP
Is there any possibility of recovering the data?

Need more information. What operating systems are involved and which file system is used on each hard drive?

I edited my original post to give more info. I was not sure whether to edit post or post reply. What is proper protocol?

Was the drive in working condition when it came out of the friends computer? If not, then odds are it's toast.

As far as I know the HD was working fine. She was having a problem with Keyboard Controller chip. When turning on the computer - beep code indicated Keyboard. We then tried a usb keyboard instead of ps2 and it worked but when we restarted later even the usb ports wouldn't work and beeping started again. I think the is a motherboard issue. I would be happy to retrieve the data from her computer HP Pavillian a220n but I can't get past the beeping!
Any help is appreciated
