i would have posted this on the apple support forums, but they didn't have a section for office (presumably because its a microsoft product), so i am posting here.
my friend is running os x 10.3 on a powerbook g4 with office 2004 (and yes its legit, the issues described below led me to believe it could be pirated so i checked). about two months ago, the File menu disappeared in Word. It is still there in excel and powerpoint (not sure about entourage, since she doesn't use it).
i initially tried deleting office preferences, with no luck. then i removed office completely, including all preferences and then reinstalled. this did no work either. i then removed office 2004 and installed her old version of office x - same issue.
so i am hoping someone here has some idea as to why this would be doing this. any help would be greatly appreciated.
she is planning on upgrading to 10.5 when it comes out (by way of a fresh install), so its not the end of the world if we can't get this fixed.
