Intel dual core E6600 cpu
ECS 915PL-A2 with SLI PCIe v3.1
EVGA 7100 GS (2) video cards
1gb Ram (using my building ram not permanant ram)
550w cheiften PSU
I have built about 15 machines over the years for the record by no means do I consider myself an expert. I have used all building safety nets for shorting problems.
I am getting no beeps on start up and no video or boot screen. this is my first intel build I usually use AMD parts. I have tried to boot with no ram in and with ram in and also with no periphials and still no joy. this is a clean build start up no OS available. the video card works in another machine just fine. to mount the board I have used the brass risers and plastic mounts. Any idea's ?

Does anything appear to be getting power?
Have you tried only one video card at a time?

Also have a Phillips DVDRW DL brand new
all power ports on the board have power to them. everything spins that has a fan and all the drives spin.
I am only using the one card at this time until it fires up and I have tried both cards and have tested both cards. I also have read and am going to the exact program on Hal9000's post, (the how to post)
Thank you for all your input so far

ok I have taken it out of the tower and tried to boot with just the board and cpu on the desk with the psu. Nope, nothing. I have also tried 2 different sticks of ram with no joy.

That mobo doesn't support your cpu, only Pentium 4 and Celeron D. That will be the problem.
Duh! How did I miss that?
It also doesn't support SLI - doesn't matter how many slots it has.
If you are an experienced builder, why in the world are you using an ECS board - and one that has a chipset that's several generations old?
If you are just looking to throw together a workstation, use one of those video cards and get a Celeron-D to toss in it.
If you are looking to build a Core 2 Duo, lose that board and those 2 video cards and get a proper motherboard and one strong video card.

Ok thanks for the info. I was looking for a board that used the socket 775. Also the card states it is SLI and so did the board advertisement. Any suggestions on waht socket to look for and what socket is this thing? I looked on the Intel site and it stated 775. I can't beleave I was such a DORK on this.
To run a Core 2 Duo and two Nvidia cards in SLI, you need a board with the Nvidia 650 or 680 chipset. However, there is no point whatsoever running 7100's in SLI, those are very low end cards. A single 8600GT at ~ $100 will make those 2 cards look sick.
The best setup for your C2D is a board based on the Intel P965 or P35 chipset. I'd recommend a base Asus P5K for best results without breaking the bank. That, a 8600GT, and a dual channel kit of DDR2-800 ram will give you a good performing, reliable, and stable PC that has room for future upgrades.

Thank you so much for the info. The last thing I am going to ask is this. will the DX10 cards work on XP with out any issues?
Yes, no problem. They are backwards compatible to DX9.
