Hey everyone. I was looking into gettting a new printer. The biggest thing I'm looking for is good print quality, and scan quality. Fax is a bonus, and so is the ability to print pictures. I already have a small little printer that's just for pictures anyway.
This is what I was looking at. Anyone have any experience with these, or opinions on them or others?

Shameless bump.
Anyone have an opinion here?

I would recommend that you buy a separate printer and a separate scanner. The machines that include both generally don't last log and offer lower quality.

Like Delikios, I instincively prefer separates (just count the buttons on the first one - faaaar too many!), and I prefer Canon to HP. However, I'm not familiar with the models you are considering.
Despite what I just said, I currently use an HP deskjet 920c (which is OK but not great, 4 years old now, light use) and I recently aquired a Canoscan LIDE 600F, which I like a lot.
HTH a bit,
Chris

Having a scanner and printer would be nice, but I don't think I can afford it, both money wise, and space wise. The convience of having a all in one would probably give me the most for what I have to work with.

I don't know how Canons are, but I have a newer HP all in one and I find that it is fairly bloated. I don't at all like how the included software was designed because it is all slow and lacking features.

Yeah. I'm still trying to decide what to get.
And while I decide, I just get to save that money to spend on other things...lol.
I finally kicked the inkjet habit and will never go back. I already have a cheap, serviceable scanner and I bought a HP Color Laserjet 2600n. It's a beast on my desk but never again will I get ripped off on ink and I can feed it cheap paper without affecting print quality.
Sorry, I know that's not helpful but I just had to say it.
For the cheaper all-in-ones, I prefer HP Officejets - but yes, the software is a disaster.

That was the other part I forgot...GLC got it but the thing does print quite well. All of my home photos look incredible on none too fancy photo paper. Of course, the printer only plays one part in that, but it counts. I'm using a Photosmart C3180 (http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/uk/en/ho/WF05a/5043-5527-7369133-7369133-12440972-12441002.html) which I realize isn't the newest, but it is on par with todays stuff.
It does print well, but everything on the software end just seems to take longer and be far more complicated than it ever has to.

I am surprised they dont have a copy machine that lets you use it as a network printer and a fax machine. I think that would be a nicer product for an office.

Out of those, I'd recommend the MP830.
I <3 Canon multifunctions. The ink is relatively cheap, and it has a dedicated black ink cart for text, so you don't go through the costlier photo-black cart as quickly.
It's going to be beastly though.
As for separate scanner and printer, I'm usually an advocate of separate machines, but I have had great experiences with Canon multifunctions.

I insist on the fact that multifunctions are very error prone machines. I would suggest a cannon as a printer preferably with many separate cheap inks, especially if you are planning to print photographs. HP printers are not bad but I have faced many times problems with their paper feeders especially after some time of use. Their inks are more expensive as well. I like HP scanners.

You need to get out more - there are plenty of those things around. Most office copiers are modular these days - just add the fax module and the print server module. Take a look at Gestetner, Ricoh, and Canon (business, not consumer).
