Bulletin Board Help Please

I am in need fo some input about the best way to make a bbs for my company intranet. We need something that looks and functions clean but it is my supervisor who wants it be refresh automatically and have an audible tone when a new posting is there. Is this possible? And if so, would it be better in ASP or CGI or what? Please help!

I haven't heard of anything like playing a tone when there's a new post, but you could easily enough set that up with a javascript I guess.

Take a look at phpBB, I use it on my site. It's very similar in layout to vBulletin, but *very* fast, and also free ;).

There are alot of addons for it at http://hacksphpbb.sourceforge.net

It'll run on Windows IIS or Apache, only requirements are PHP and a MySQL database.
