Point your GoogleEarth to this location:
51deg56'13" N 1deg15'15" W
This is Upper Heyford airbase, not far from Oxford U.K., one of the most important USAF bases during the Cold War.
It was from here that F111s set off to attack Libya, and there was also a Quick Response Unit of instant-readiness nuclear-armed aircraft stationed here as well.
And look at it now - at least it's quieter, the F111s were very loud............
