Sorry, but this might be a long post cause I've got to explain things. I'm not an experienced web designer. I volunterred to try to put one together for our church - got an "idiot" book - and managed to put one together. I think it's pretty good. It's www.danaumc.org. It's been running fine for about 6 months. But, just recently I've been having trouble with the graphic images in the site changing size. I used "frames" and a lot of graphic images (gif) - even for the "links", cause I was used to working with graphic images. Used Abobe Photoshop Elements to generate all the images. Wrote html using notepad for the basic frameset - and for all the navigation.
But, here's my problem. Until just recently, the graphic images that I sized to 670x391 pixels to exactly fit into my "content" frame (assuming a screen resolution of 800x600) worked perfect - they filled up the "content" frame just right. But now, all of a sudden, they come up smaller than the "content" frame - sometimes only about half size. Usually, when you first pull up the web site the graphic images totally fill up the frame, but with repeated back and forth navigation they come up only half size. I'm using IE 7. I went into IE "tools">internet options>advanced - and unclicked MULTIMEDIA "enable automatic image resizing" and that made it better - now after repeated navigation they come up smaller, but now they're about 90% of the frame size instead of half size.
But, to make this more complicated - this just is happening on my computer down in the basement. On my wife's computer upstairs the web site is working fine like it always has - and her MULTIMEDIA"enable automatic image resizing" is checked. So, that tells me, I think, that the web site is OK - it's just my computer. But, gee - I just can't figure it out. I've tried restoring the computer to several previous dates (XP Home). Uninstalled Java - thought that might be the problem since the computer upstairs doesn't have Java. And I'm wondering - if I'm having this problem, could some church members also be having the same problem? Or, since I did all the web design work on my computer downstairs (which had Java on it) did Java applets (whatever those are) somehow get into my web stuff and that's the problem. I'm just hoping some of you more knowledgable web design people have run into this before and could enlighten me on why this might be happening. Sorry for the long post. Cliff
