Which one would be better to get? I know the F sockets work better for servers, and AM2 are for personal computers, but my new system is gonna be for gaming so that's why I'm asking.

AM2 is really your only option. Server motherboards and CPUs are not built for desktop gaming.

You not gonna reap any benefit from Socket F for gaming as Alaron stated and Socket F are very expensive. If you can afford the new 6000 AM2 I would go with that, it owns and it will rock all your games.

The AM2 will be ideal for home, office and games. For the Socket F, it's for the servers - and they have really demanding specs such as ECC RAMs and stuff like that. Unless you are making a workstation drawing and planning Jumbo Jets... :)

I just ordered a X2 6400+ Black Edition through NCIX.com for $189.98. It's some special they are having. I've heard some good things through reviews about it. How much are you willing to spend on a CPU?

I usually go around the $200 mark for a processor.
If I wanted a quad core I would up that to $300 but that's as far as I go.
That's a great price for the X2 6400+.
