My brother has a Dell XPS 600, and the core 2 duo processor runs at 2.79ghz. He wants to try and overclock it but is unsure about doing so, he is afraid of ruining his pc that he paid 2200$ for, a few years ago. He doesen't really know how to do it, niether do I, so some info would help. I mainly want to know if overclocking would be safe on his computer.

You can't overclock a DELL...no options in the BIOS to speed things up.
In fact, you can't overclock any name brand computer.

Those Manufacturers are so Mean:)
Time for the solder and dry ice:D
New BIOS in the mail......
Some Dells are overclockable, and the XPS 600 is one of them *IF* it has the right motherboard and bios. Press F2 to enter Setup, choose Performance from the dropdown list. If it's overclockable you will see the settings.
That's a Pentium-D, by the way, not a Core 2 Duo.
