Hi, this is my first build and my first post on this forum :)

I have an ASUS M2N-Plus SLI Vista Edition motherboard which I bought for cheap that supports AM2 CPUs. I would like to get the Athlon X2 6400+ for it, however, the only thing stopping me is on the ASUS website it says that the motherboard needs an updated BIOS version for it to work?

I've flashed a BIOS before, but that was when the computer was already working. Since I'm building from scratch, will I be able to use the newer CPU with the old BIOS, hope it works and then flash? Or will I have to get my hands on an older CPU first that's compatible with the older BIOS?

Update the BIOS to the version specified on the ASUS website before you build. Then just go as nromal.

I see :) Thank you very much... Exactly what I needed to know. Looks like I will be on the hunt for an old processor.
