I recently upgraded my old ATI Radeon X700 for a ATI Radeon HD 2600XT. Works fine but my monitor is a "mere" 16.5". It's able to display 1080p (if that matters). I was wondering, if I got a new LCD monitor or HDTV for my computer, say around or above the 20" mark, would it be worth it to get the monitor or the HDTV and use it both as a television and a monitor? Or should I just buy an HDTV and use that as both a monitor and a television? Thanks for any answers.

Oh yeah, I know that HDTVs are LCDs, plasmas, etc. When I'm talking about LCDs, I mean those standard, ordinary flat monitors and HDTVs as in a Samsung or something like that you see in a store. Hope that helped. If not, please ask.

When you're out stop off at a news stand or magazine store.
The Holiday 2007 issue of MaximumPC has taken up exactly your question.
LCD Monitor vs. LCD TV

When you get done reading that turn over to page 18 and the Watchdog column and read " It depends on what your definition of "HD" is.

Until the monitor industry can get it's act together and begin labeling monitiors appropriately, the only way to avoid getting burned is to look for the Vista Premium Logo and do your due diligence before you make a purchase.

Samsung has one 24" LCD Monitor out at Neweggg that's HDMI (1080P) : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824001246
