Can anyone tell me if there is any form of simple audio recording software out there, like Windows Sound Recorder but which allows you to record for as long as you like?
I've looked around and I can only find ones that are bundled in with editing software or phone call center recording type software that screws up audio settings or conflicts with other software.
My main aim is to record internet radio so I can listen to it when I choose. I don't want a complex program, just a simple audio recorder for the internet.
As always, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Start with Audacity...
A fast multi-track audio editor and recorder for Linux, BSD, Mac OS, and Windows. Supports WAV, AIFF, Ogg, and MP3 formats. Features include envelope editing, mixing, built-in effects and plug-ins, all with unlimited undo.
http://sourceforge.net/projects/audacity/
I'm not quite sure how to use it to record off the interent, but it will handle recording
and editing sound files without limitations.
If you can get Audacity to record internet radio, please post back
here and explain how you did it. Thanks!

This is the software I tried before and which messsed up my settings for other programs and had compatibility issues with other software - and why I want something simpler with no editing functions, etc.
It does allow you to record off the net if you change the audio settings in the application and un-mute the right one in Windows audio settings.

Try an older or newer version of Audacity than you tried before.
I have a Creative SB Live, Audacity recognizes it and gives me a record "What U Hear" option.

Thank you guys. I've just discovered that Windows Sound Recorder will record until you run out of disk space (or you press 'stop'). A real result - and the only good thing so far I've found on Vista.

Just curious, but does Audacity even support Vista? I know it wasn't officially supported for Win 98.2 (worked fine for me, though) but I can't find anything on their site saying yes or no for Vista...

I thought FlexiMusic Audio Editor (http://www.fleximusic.com/) is easy enough to you.
