I am having a problem with a new build that seems to be powering up but I am getting no display, here are the setups I've tried. I'm testing the following out of box. I am sure now that it's not the motherboard as I've had the same result on both the abit and the gigabyte. I'm also sure now that it's not the ram as I've tried the adata and the gskill on the gigabyte board.

I'm down to the graphics card, the cpu, or the psu. However, after turning on the computer without the heat sink attached to the cpu, I felt no warmth coming from the cpu, so I'm leaning towards that. If the HSF is attached, the fans do come on as well as the fans on the videocard. I was careful to install the cpu correctly, and I have built one c2duo system before, but that's basically what I'm left with.

Any suggestions? (I have tried clearing cmos, I don't have any other systems to swap components, I'm only doing out of box builds at this point, I've tried switching ram positions.) Also, I get no post beeps when I have my headphones connected to the mobo. I've tried starting it without any ram in it just to see if I'd get any error messages, but I did not get anything from either mobo.

I know you said you tested it on both boards, but do you have any indication that the board is powering up besides the fans? Because I was leaning towards thinking it was my board, since the fans and the case's power led seem to be the only things working off of it, and I don't know what other things to look for to see if the board is working.

Well that's the problem. The Abit motherboard had onboard lights that indicated it was getting power, cpu's and gpu's fans came on, i could hear the hard drive start up, and I was able to eject the dvd drive when those were hooked up......

But switching to the gigabyte motherboard, I see no indication that it has lights to show that it is getting power. I'm also having the exact same problem as before, no display, but everything seems to get power.

My concern now is that I've tried running the motherboard with the cpu without a hsf and my processor does not get hot. I left it on for about 3 minutes and I couldn't tell if it was getting warm or not, but I'm under the impression it's supposed to be hot to the touch.

I'm really under the impression it's not a mobo issue. I think it's either the gpu, the cpu, or the psu. I'm leaning towards the cpu because it doesn't get hot, but I don't see any evidence of physical damage.

If you used the Rosewill PSU in all of your tests, I would tend to think that the Rosewill PSU is the problem. Rosewills aren't very good units. You need to try a known, working PSU to eliminate the PSU.

I appreciate that info. I hadn't heard that Rosewill's aren't good. Maybe I'll pick up a psu from best buy, they're fairly good about return policies so I can at least eliminate that as a possibility.

Use this link as a quide to which psu is good and which is bad.. For your set up I would use anything from Sparkle. Fortron, Antec, Corsair, Seasonic etc...
