Gang, I've googled this but can't find a thing on it. Where can I get those plastic clips that are used to clean up ide/floppy ribbon cables. They sort of look like a hair clip. Thanks.

Hi whiplash,

Welcome to PC Mechanic !! :)

Not sure I've seen them... If I had, I've forgotten. I don't use clips as ribbon cables fold very nicely and retain that fold. You can tuck them out of sight, folding them as necessary. If you want clips, you could use just about clip device as long as you like it's appearance.

Thanks TwoRails. That's a good idea. I'll try it.

Another idea could be to use sock clips (The hangers that are sold w/individually sold pairs). Used them on a build, and worked fine.

Rubber bands? Thats what I use if they are giving me any trouble. Then again, not much in my PC needs a ribbon cable.

Try Home Depot or Lowe's or your preferred hardware store.

What I've done in the past is get 2 nylon zip ties and connect the ends together around the ribbon cables and then clip off the excess part that gets pulled through the locking end. See attached image.

I'd take a pair of zip ties or a rubber band. No ordering necessary.
