Audio recording In Win XP

Does win XP come with Audio recording?

I want to record my voice for example onto an mp3 song and I was wondering what program makes it the easiest to get this done..
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Win XP has a sound recorder built in. Here's where to find it:

Start>All Programs>Accessories>Entertainment>Sound Recorder

I think it only records for a minute and it stores files as wav files.

I use AvRack to record sound, which came with my PC, and then I convert them using Super video converter.

It all depends on what kind of quality you want it to be. No matter how nice your pipes sound, you won't get anything good with an Altec Lansing desktop mic and Sound Recorder.

How serious are you about recording?

Are we talking like you have a drum track or non-vocal track that you want to sing to?

Sound Recorder does work, just not anything like a pro solution does. For a little more geekiness, look up Audacity.

Gotcha. Yeah, Audacity is ok. Probably way more than what you need, but it does a good job.

I note tho: Audacitu might not work straight away as a multitrack (2-track in your case) - it needs asio driver. Should that happen, google "Asio4all"
