AT 127* CLESIUS what should I do? specs: AMD 6000, stock cooling (which is suprissingly substantial)

Where are you getting that temperature? Speedfan perhaps? It is clearly inaccurate. Your CPU would have shut down to prevent damage at a lower temp then that.
Check the temp in the BIOS.

Are you overclocking?
Did you install the heatsink right?
That's very hot, and probably at the point of damaging the cpu.

OK I'll check the Bios the temp reading came from a program on hiren's boot disk

It would have shut off, my Core 2 Duo shut off at 120C, I should imagine the AMD would have shut off at a similar time, don't the AMDs run cooler?

Looking at the TDP, the Core 2 Duo's can run cooler than their X2 counterparts. Some programs use 127C to indicate that there is no sensor there, so check the BIOS.

I seem to remember another member using a Dual Core AMD receiving dodgy temperature readings along similar lines of 127C. Probably something up with the sensors or the detecting software. And I think it was speedfan last time that had the other member confussled.
