All antivirus programs installed & running on your PC are realtime.
AVG, Avast are popular. Only have one running.

But it seems only avast has realtime protection, other 2 have no such function.

They may not state it but AVG and AntiVir do have real time protection and run in background protecting your computer just as Avast! does...unless your idea of real time protection is different from mine.
What is real time protection to you?

I only see that Avast prompts some dialog to inform some virus has been blocked when the computer is online, the other 2 seems no the same function.

I have AVG and AntiVir installed on my home computers (AntiVir on 1 and AVG on the other 2) and both have popped up with some kind of message when they've had to block something trying to do something nasty on our computers.
As someone else said earlier...all Windows based antivirus programs have real time protection and run in background while you're using the computer.
Not sure why you don't want to believe us.

Thank you all for the replies, I have downloaded Avast and Avira.Don't run them both at the same time, the real time background protection is gonna conflict with each other and affect your computer's performance. You can have several anti-virus programs installed but only one can be actively background scanning at a time.

Avast! is my personal choice just for the fact that it run's realtime scan on every little facet of my PC.
There's a scanner for:
Standard
Outlook
P2P Servers
Network
Internet Mail
Instant Messaging
Web Shield
Also if there are ever any new virus databases or new versions of the software released the program will update itself. The only time it will ever prompt you to download is when you're downloading a whole new version of the software.
Also for each scanner there's three diffrent levels of protection for each one that ranges for low, high, and custom. Along with the fact that it shows you what file or files it is currently scanning.
Along with the fact that it takes up little system memory to run unlike a Norton based software program.
