Spyware terminator is very powerful, but it has one shortage, it slows down the PC, any modification or configuration to resolve this problem? Thanks!

Seems to have average or below ratings, and I've noticed a couple of reviews that mention the maker was, at least at one time, also in the adware business.
Why not go with Lavasoft's Ad-aware (http://www.lavasoftusa.com/products/ad_aware_free.php) and/or Spybot S&D (http://www.safer-networking.org/en/home/index.html)? Both are exceptional tools, and it's hard to beat free!

Spyware terminator is very powerful, but it has one shortage, it slows down the PC, any modification or configuration to resolve this problem?I just leave the active scanner disabled and run scans when I want to.Why not go with Lavasoft's Ad-aware (http://www.lavasoftusa.com/products/ad_aware_free.php) and/or Spybot S&D (http://www.safer-networking.org/en/home/index.html)? Both are exceptional toolsI recently started using Spyware Terminator and SuperAntiSpyware to replace the super bloated Ad-Aware 2007 and Spybot: Search & Destroy. They used to be decent antispyware programs but the latest versions have really turned me off to them. Ad-Aware 2007 was a 20MB+ download and Spybot: S&D takes way too long to start up now and the update process freezes the computer sometimes.
I've been pretty happy with Spyware Terminator, SuperAntiSpyware and AVG Anti-Spyware.and it's hard to beat free!AVG Anti-Spyware, Spyware Terminator and SuperAntiSpyware are free as well.

Cricket - You have noticed that as well? I never had a problem with the older version (1.4. I think?) but the new one seems very sluggish. I like the new Immunize interface, but it definitely isn't a fast program anymore. I'm actually glad to hear someone else is having the same issue; now I know it's not just me. :)

Part of the reason that Spybot V 1.5 is so slow may be related to the new "Auto update" feature. Once it's up and running, the updates have already been downloaded and installed. Not sure how that works but it appears to be happening prior to opening anything on the monitor.

I just installed it on an infected machine and was convinced it was the nasties in the machine that was slowing it down.
Glad I am not the only one who thinks it has become slow.

How come when I check for updates there seems to always be something to download?
I uninstalled Spybot: S&D and Ad-Aware 2007 from all 3 computers at home and will just be using AVG Anti-Spyware, SuperAntiSpyware, Spyware Terminator and SpywareBlaster for malware protection for now.

Do you really need that much protection? I get along fine with only AVG anti-virus. Still works fine, although I just got the first bluescreen on this notebool in over a year, while playing TM Nations, talking on Messenger and having a whole lot of other stuff open, probably just too much for Windows to handle.

AVG Anti-virus is just that...an anti-virus, it's not a anti-spyware program. You need both a anti-virus and something to stop or detect/remove mal-ware (spyware, trojans, etc...). A anti-virus isn't designed to catch both viruses and spyware.
And you should have some kind of spyware blocker like SpywareBlaster.
