View Full Version : Installing IDE HD with Already installed Sata HD plz help!!

Hi guys,
I have 500GB WD SATA hard disk already installed in My pc..
and I have a 200 GB WD IDE hard disk i want to install..

What is the best jumper sitting i have to choose...is it MASTER or SLAVE or CS

Plz advice..

Either CS(80 wire data cable) or Master(40 wire data cable). SATA and IDE are separate data busses. The existence or non-existence of a SATA drive has no effect on how you jumper and IDE drive. And SATA does not have any Master/Slave settings; that's strictly IDE.

Also, if you have a 80 wire IDE cable make sure you plug the connectors into the correct ports...blue to motherboard, black is the master connector and grey is the slave connector. Set the IDE HDD jumper to CS and plug the black connector into it.

Thanks for the help...i have windows vista 32bit
and i made the 200GB WD as cs and everything is ok...but i faced another problem...

Every like two to three min,I hear a ticking(sound of tick)fron the 200GB HD..and its annoying...any one have an idea how can i solve this tick thing..
