I am looking at Seagate 750G external hard drive that has both a USB2 port and an eSATA port.

I noticed the eSATA data transfer rate is much faster than the USB data transfer rate. 480mbps vs 3.0 GPS for the eSATA cable

Where does an eSATA cable plug in to a computer? I would like to have the much faster transfer rate.

Thanks

You need to have a motherboard with an eSATA port or you need to get a slot plate adapter that connects to one of the internal SATA ports. You also need a eSATA cable, they are shielded where standard SATA cables are not.

If you order an Apricorn eSATA/USB combo housing and a SATA drive instead of buying that premade one, it comes with both items in addition to a USB cable.

Then get a Seagate or WD standard SATA drive of the desired size. The kit assembles very easily.
