You need to be more specific about your problem .. calling it a "fabulous game" doesn't really help us provide you with any information. The name of the game helps. Have you checked the game publisher's website for compatibility. It is also up to the software coders to ultimately ensure compatibility.

Is this the game? http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-D42-00001-Metal-Gear-Solid/dp/B00004VP4B/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/104-7190884-8975961?ie=UTF8&s=software&qid=1197644770&sr=1-1

If so, the only thing I can think of is to try and set the compatibility mode. Try setting it for xp first, and if that doesn't work, try 98/ME.

http://www.mobygames.com/game-group/metal-gear-series should give you an idea of how old the game is. When a s/w manufacturer puts out a product, it is designed to run on a certain spec. Just because you buy the game doesn't entitle you compatibility till the end of time. If it was designed for XP or 98 and it runs on those platforms that's all you can ask for. The rest is up to the publisher to provide patches, if they want to... or for you not to upgrade your platform if you cannot find a compatible version for your programs.
