OK when I clicked on a website, AVG caught a virus called Exploit (thank you AVG!). It gave me options and one was to "Heal" so I did and it told me it was "healed". I then had AVG scan my computer just to make sure and it came up clean. However I can go to the virus vault and it tells me it is there.

it says
healable "no"
source "backup copy"
status "infected"
object path is a temporary internet file (not typing it all out here unless that is necessary since I can't just copy and paste it).

Only thing is I can't "heal" this backup copy (won't let me) so what do I do with it? When I tell it I want to delete the file, it asks me if I want to remove it from the virus vault which I'm scared of doing!

You have 3 choices. Leave it in the vault, restore it, or delete it. I'd delete it. Then delete your temporary internet files.

Any time AVG finds a virus in the temporary internet files, don't bother with trying to heal it. Just delete it.

I would also go a step further and check my running processes, and research that definition to make sure it doesnt make any registry edits. Or if it hides itself anywhere else under different files.

glc,
Thank you I'll do that then!!! I was afraid to delete as it says it takes it out of the vault. I take it "heal" doesn't mean that it actually gets rid of the virus - that is what I thought would happen when I clicked on "heal" to begin with.

I have no idea how to do the steps you tell me to make sure it is really gone.

Thanks y'all.

Heal is only recommended if it's a system file critical to Windows operation that contains the virus. Healing supposedly removes the viral code from the file, then puts a backup copy of the infected file in the vault. Anything in the temporary internet files is not a system file.
