Chlorine Safe To Use in LCS?

Is chlorine safe to use in a liquid cooling system with mixed metals? Ya know, to kill the algae and what not.

Also I have some other questions. Anyone know if the PrimoChill Pure Performance Coolants are any good versus distilled water?

just go to any hardware store and get some algecide for Humidifiers....that will do it...

Most use Water Wetter or Xerex for cooling suppliment...found at any auto parts store...;)

alright.. so algaecide, water wetter, and antifreeze would be a good combo for good heat transfer, corrosion, killing algae & what not, and preventing the water from freezing (although, thats unlikely here)? Or I can just leave the antifreeze out altogether.

Just like in an automobile the antifreeze is not just for preventing freezing, it is used to remove heat from the components which is in turn dissipated in the radiator. I would think the antifreeze would be the most important liquid component of the cooling system solution.

Many would argue that distilled water is the ONLY coolant you should ever use.

Being unfamiliar with pc cooling systems i wouldn't even get into a discussion over which is better. I was only making the point that "antifreeze" such as xerex assist in both cooling and preventing overheating and in your post it appeared to me that you felt antifreeze was unnecessary because you weren't concerned about freezing.

NEVER use Anit-freeze in a water cooling system....

Anit-freeze is ONLY to keep the water from freezing and has very poor thermal transfer when compared to water....

not only that but the Silicate in the Anti-freeze drops out and forms on everything in the cooling system...

Thats the white stuff in a radiator that needs to be flushed out every year...

Just use the Xerex or Watter Wetter and algicide.....nothing more....

the Xerex or Watter Wetter is a thermal transfer helper.....thus aiding in helping heat transfer to the cooling coils...

Use 1 or the other but not both....I have Xerex and its a small .....OK

It's good I went to the Box and looked....The Stuff is ZEREX....

Called ZEREX Super Coolant...made by Valvoline....looks to be about an 6-8oz bottle...

you mix it 5% Zerex to 95% water....very dilute amount....mixing it more than that has negative effects...

Water Wetter is the same but comes in a bigger bottle for about 20.00 at the auto-parts store....same ratio on that stuff also....;)
