I'm using Firefox, and recently I've noticed that scrolling up takes me back a page or 3 at a time. I've downloaded and installed the latest driver for my mouse which is an Intellimouse Explorer 3.0 with 5 buttons. I've also noticed that the large button on the side that is supposed to take me back doesn't. And just now I noticed that the small side button doesn't work either. Anyone have any clues??

Thanks
Geno

Have you set your mouse button preferences? Start > Control Panel > Mouse ... Buttons tab

Yup Sure did. That was the FIRST thing I looked at. When it continued afterwards that's when I posted the message. I haven't a clue as to why it KEEPS going back when I scroll up and the side buttons don't work as they're supposed to. But thanks

On a new Firefox browser window type about:config
change the values for mousewheel.horizscroll.withnokey.numlines to 1 and mousewheel.horizscroll.withnokey.action to 0

Close all firefox windows and restart Firefox.

Checked those settings and they are just as you told me to set them. But the scroll problem still is there.

Are you sure that the problem is tied to FireFox, and not a general issue? I've found on my system that the scroll-wheel up, followed by a lateral movement with the trackball, results in
a series of keystrokes being sent as if from the keyboard. In Firefow (and IE), it has the effect of going to a previous page from the history. In Explorer (e.g. Control Panel), it minimizes the window. I received a warning from Zonealarm that IPoint.exe was attempting to send keyboard commands to explorer.exe.

In my case, I'm running 32-bit Vista Home Premium, a Microsoft Trackball Explorer 1.0, and finding the problem with both the generic Vista mouse drivers and the Intellimouse 6.2 drivers. I'm using a Linksys KVM switch and am hooked up using the PS/2 mouse & keyboard port. I'm using the same trackball with my other computers through the same KVM switch without difficulty. The only one in which I am having the problems is the one running Vista.
