Networking - do I need password?

Do I need to use user account passwords to network my Vista PC's?

It seems to be the only way I can get my PC's to see each other.

It's irritating having to put in passwords every time I boot my PC's.

Yup, that seems to be true with Vista. Password is needed in order to be seen on a network. I only reboot mine when required after certain Windows Updates.
