System hangs on certain webpages

I'd make sure you have the latest video drivers. You could also try reducing the number of colors or perhaps backing off the video hardware acceleration. You can find all these settings under Control Panel/Display.

Another thing that leads to browser freezes on certain pages are if they have Java applets and it contains bad code or you have a corrupt/outdated Java Runtime engine.

Another thing is that Netscape 4.x tends to freeze up a lot with large pages. At least that's my experience.
