Hey everyone, today I received my 64-bit version of Windows Vista Home Premium. Currently, I have Windows XP 32-bit Home Edition. My rig is as follows:
EVGA GeForce 8800 GTX 768MB
Intel Core 2 Duo E6850
NForce 680i SLI mobo
4GB OCZ PC6400 800MHZ SLI-ready RAM
700W Thermaltake Toughpower PSU
120GB WD Caviar HD
(sorry, wasn't sure if you needed those last two parts but just in case!)
Anyways, my problem seems to be that when I throw in my Vista disk I get a message pop up on my screen that reads: "Setup can not run on this version of the Operating System. To install Windows please try booting from the install media."
(I ran Windows Upgrade Advisor and it said I was ready for Vista, as well.)
I tried turning off my computer and booting from the CD, but it seems the install stopped at a greenish blue screen that could have been a desktop background, minus the desktop itself. (This was after an initial long white load bar finished and then a smaller green load bar). I waited 3 or 4 minutes and then figured that something was wrong, since when I had installed Windows XP things were much quicker.
Does it just take longer than I waited for it, or does nothing loading after the two initial loading bars are finished have something to do with the message I get regarding booting from the install media? Any help would be much appreciated!
