You get what you pay for, Ontrack is the best and also the most expensive. Start with the freebies and work your way up, most of the pay-for ones offer a trial download to tell you exactly what it can recover if you buy it.

'pc inspector file recovery' is a good one :)
i was able to get ma data recovered thru it..
google it to get that software..
and it is freeware

It's not cheap but I have used http://www.stellarinfo.com/partition-recovery.htm With great success. You can download the free demo to see what is recoverable before plunking down the green.

I too have a good success with Stellar Phoenix Windows Data Recover (http://www.stellarinfo.com)y Software. Got back my almost 90% of the data. Little expensive but work out well, was satisfied with the result. You can download the demo version to try the utility. Demo helps you determining the software prior to purchase.
