I'm the proud owner of an Intel DG965OT motherboard and I've just come into possesion of an Intel Core 2 Duo processor E6550 with a front side bus of 1333 Mhz. Page 15 of the Intel Mobo Manual clearly specifies using it with a Core 2 Duo processor with "1066 or 800 Mhz bus" - but I am wondering how much trouble I will cause myself if I go ahead and use this 1333 Mhz FSB processor?

These two items were purchased separately and now I'm debating if I can put them together - I can't see anything on Intel's website that helps much.

Any ideas appreciated...

That CPU won't work in that motherboard, the FSB's have to match.

For your info, here's Intel's compatibility tool for your specific motherboard.

As liambl says, if you want to use that processor, you need to buy a motherboard that supports 1333FSB processors natively.

Thanks very much for replies - you saved me a lot of time trying something that would not work anyway. Thanks again.
