Problem removing Vista

I am trying to remove Vista to Install XP Pro on one of my Acer 3100s. This thing has the worst Bios I have ever seen. Anyone know the steps to do this succesfuly?

Boot off XP cd - select Delete Partition(s)
Add the partition(s) back and let er rip.

It worked like a charm thanks for responding though. I was having a problem before with re-installing vista. That is why I thought it would be an issue with XP but XP just formated the HDD and installed without a hitch.
