this has also been posted in the "general hardware" section for need of reply's

i have a problem

my friend bought several PC parts for his machine and asked me to fit them for him.. fair enough payed me some too...

upon construction, no problems, good case that made it extreamly easy to work with.

system is as follows

ABIT - NFM2S motherboard
AMD 6000+ duel-core 3ghz 2MB L2cache
2GB OCZ-GOLD 800mhz ram
jeantech 600W PSU (costly but he's got himself a gd psu there)
seagate 160GB 8MB cache SATA HDD
DVD-RW on IDE
nvidia 8600 GTS BFG-OCed

now, i pressed power button - NO post, NO on-screen information, couldnt possably be the monitor - checked it on my system, worked fine...

firstly i presumed CMOS jumper... but no... iv re-set the cmos and nothings changed

then i thought maybee its the gfx card. removed the 8600 and began using on-board. no change.

then i tryed a single ram module, still no change.

as it is iv referd the unit to anouther person involved in IT, but i dont hold high hopes.

all fans operate fine, and LED's light up.

havent tryed re-seating the CPU yet, but will try if who i have referd it too cant do anything with it either.

my suspitions are, he has bought a dodgey CPU or his motherboard is also dodgey/case shorting it out, not sure yet.

p.s. to test the power supply i did use it in my system with no-change

AS-ROCK I945G
Intel Core2Duo E6420 OCed 2.41ghz 4MB L2cache
2GB Corsiar DDR2 667mhz ram
artic cooling 600W PSU (did test jeantech psu with this setup^^)
Seagate barracuda 250GB SATA 16MB cache, seagate 160GB SATA 8MB cache
duel-layer 20x DVD-RW on SATA
ATI HD3870 Power color PCS (replaced my old overclocked 8800GTS 320MB - frankly it destroyed my old GTS)

any suggestions??
