I use the ZA free firewall and it does take its time loading at start-up.
I doubt making it part of a suite would make it load faster.
Double check, if you haven't already, to make sure the XP firewall isn't loading as well.

XP firewall is disabled. I'm using the suite because of the parental control it has. It's way better than Norton. I did not have this problem with the prior version though.

Is the program slow to load or are you experiencing slow surf? I've had problems with Zone making things sluggish after an update before. The rememdy I found is to uninstall zone then download and reinstall the new version. For some reason this seemed to work out better than just updating zone.
