this is what i have right now... i would like to either upgrade it or build a new one using atleast the harddrive...

i have a moniter mouse keyboard headset ...

Moniter=19" Lg Widescreen Lcd 2000:1 contrast
i have 1 gig of ram 2x512


if i have to build a new i need to keep it under 450-550

for the record i would prefer amd

and i dont i repeat dont want an 8800 so please dont suggest it

anything and everything.. play games surf net do homework photos everything..

Here is a good reference build, it uses a performance AMD motherboard, a good AMD processor, a pretty fast AMD video card, good performance ram (will work fine with XP, vista upgrade is marketing), and a good case and power supply, you won't need a new optical drive, so you should be able to use your old one:
