I am running the free anti-spyware applications on my XP Pro computer. AdAware 2007, SpyBot S&D, AVG antispyware, CCCleaner and Super Antispyware program. I have a second hard drive with Vista on it, and Windows Defender came with it. My first thought was to remove Windows Defender and install the same ones I have on the XP HD. However, if I understand it correctly Windows Defender ALSO tries to stop the spyware etc. from even getting onto the computer in the first place, as the other programs remove the spyware after it gets on the computer when you do a scan. If that is true, then I should keep Defender and ADD it to the XP hard drive. Opinions please.

I kept defender on vista. Doesn't cause any problems, so why not.

I kept it on the laptop (Vista) I bought the wife for Xmas and added SpySweeper for a little extra punch. I haven't noticed any issues with it at all.

I told Vista not to use Defender and installed the usual AS and AV programs. This seemed to speed up system performance quite a bit.
