New Build Help

Hey guys, new builder here.
Iam not that big of a gamer, but I do play games sometimes.
I wanna bulid a pc thats good for gaming, but has good speed.
Like when doing upgrades, installing prgrames, or downloads, I wanna build something that fly's past all those installiation processes and crap.
I am not really worried about money, but I figure since iam not a die-hard gamer, the build shouldnt cost me that much. I gots about 2 G's to work with, but dout Iam gonna need it all.

Since its not gonna be an all-time gaming machine, I am not really sure of what video card or mobo to use. If you guys could help me out, that would be great.

HD: Seagate 500gb 7200.10 sata
Video Card: 8800gt, or HD3850
PSU: Corsair 550

Case, monitor are up to you.

That will bring you in quite a bit under budget.

Don't use that Thermaltake power supply, get something better. A rig like that deserves at least a Corsair or Seasonic power supply.

The power supply is the most important component in the computer and it's something you never want to skimp on. You want a good quality unit that puts out a little more power than you actually need (gives you some upgrade headroom). That Thermaltake PSU would be okay for a basic computer, but for a rig like yours you want better quality and more power.

I see. How about the cool master 750W, that should be enough right?

and i still need some help with fans and cooling.

The case will come with all the fans you need and the stock heatsink/fan work fine. Extra fans and aftermarket coolers are really only needed if you are going to OC the system. Since you are not a hard core gamer OCing is really not necessary. I game alot, and I still dont OC just because I want my system to be very stable and not have any probems.

You have picked out great parts but are probably over building for the purposes you listed. The new 8800 GTS 512 is a very powerful gaminig video card. The GT shadow listed is a very good gamer and would save you some bucks. But if you have the cash the GTS is a step better.

You would be find with 550 watts or so on the PSU so you could look around for something a bit smaller. The Corsair 520 and 550 come highly recommended and anythiing from a quality company from that list in the 500-600 range would probably fit your needs

So i guess i'll go with the corsair 550w. and since you guys say that the 8800gt is fine for gaming, and i know i aint no gamer, i think i'll go with that instead of the gts.

Sometimes it depends on which warehouses the parts will be shipped from and you could end up getting a bunch of boxes.
