Hello folks,
I have an asus p5gd2-x mobo, that I just upgraded the ram (kvr533d2n4k2/2g).All 4 sticks are the same 1 gig each. and no mater how I interchange the sots theres always only 3.3 at the startup count.
I tried just using 3 sticks to test them and they all work to 3 gig but if i put in the last stick and it's like it tops out at 3.3.
Any help please.

If you are using a 32bit OS, that is what you should see. There is a limitation in the programming. You need a 64bit version for Windows to use all 4GB.

Buy a 64-bit os and your problem will be solved.

But then you'll have another set of problems with the 64bit OS....

If you had done your homework and read threads here before you tried to upgrade your ram, you would have known what you were getting into. There's at least a thread a week posted on this issue and there are articles in the Microsoft knowledge base explaining exactly why this happens.

This doesn't always solve the problem. Yes i know 64 bit OS ALL support more than 4 gb of ram... Thats true and i have to agree... But if your mobo ONLY support a MAX of 4 i doubt you will still see it all because of motherboard resources. It supports max of 4 but it still need some of that to allocate other stuff on the board. If your motherboard fully supports 8 gb of ram and 64 bit cpus, then you will see the full 4 gb WITH a 64 bit OS.. Im not just saying this out of anywhere though cause it really happened to me and i also found out the hard way.....

Live and learn, I saw the special sale  and didn't wast any time.
But thanks for showing me the way;)
At least you have as much ram in there that can be handled - don't sweat it, enjoy it.
