running 2 scans simultaneously

Hope this isn't too dumb of a question but....is it okay to run two scans at the same time. For example, sometimes I run a full scan with my virus protection while also running a scan with my spybot S&D. Is that ok?

The Spybot scan usually runs fairly quick and I would do that first. The reason is that both can not access the same drive at the same time, so you don't really save any time.

Actually I think you spend more time, because when 2 programs try to do i/o operations on the same drive you share the access time and you have the overhead of the process switching between i/o reads.

Run all you want at the same time - if you want to go somewhere else and leave it alone for a while and would rather not sit there while it's scanning.
