I have windows Vista 64-bit home premium and i am dissapointed in its performance in games. Im wondering if I could get a step-by-step switch, because Ive never done it before.

Make sure there are XP drivers for all your hardware. Then obtain an XP install disc. Go into the BIOS and make CD drive first boot. Place the XP disc in the drive and restart. The disc will boot and will load various things. If you have a third party RAID or SATA setup (not integreated in chipset) you need to press F8 at the beginning to install the driver. When you get to the main menu, press ENTER to install Windows. When you get to the partition page, delete all partitions and create a new one in the NTFS format. After this completes setup will start copying files. Apon completion, the PC will restart, only this time do not boot from the CD, Windows will now start installation. From here on it is fairly self explanatory.

When you delete the partition and create a new one that will completely erase all the data.

That is right. Maybe the hdd is SATA, XP will not recognize...then you can disabled SATA mode in BIOS settings and install XP, or else you should press F6 to load SATA driver when installation. After reloading XP, you can enable the SATA mode again. ^_^

So I formatted my hard drive and tried to install XP. It comes up with an error. My firend that has installed XP over 60 billion times has never had this problem before. (Error: Initilization failed: E:\l386\asms. Error message: Parameter Invalid)
I've tried installing and reinstalling all day and I keep getting this error. I have no idea what the problem is and I would absolutely love to know why I keep getting this.

Is it a premade computer by a manufacturerr? sometimes they add parameters so that you cant instal an OS unless its come from them.
