Looks like it is no longer supported, did some checking to confirm it. So what is everyone using now? From what I have been reading on other tech site, Ad-Aware 2007 is not a popular replacement.

Thanks in advance PC gurus .

I have to be honest I have never been a fan of Adaware.
AVG7.5 and Spybot do just fine for me, have a look through some of the recent threads in the Securities forum, there are lots of spyware apps listed that people favour.

I was a fan of Ad-Aware, the previous versions ran smoothly and caught enough baddies to make it a worthwhile addition to an anti-spyware arsenal. But they dropped the ball with 2007 as it was a resource hog and failed to find things that most other programs did. I too use AVG and Spybot. :)

So what is everyone using now? SpywareBlaster, SuperAntiSpyware, Spyware Terminator and AVG Anti-Spyware.

For antivirus I use AVG on 2 computers and AntiVir on 1.

Agreed on Adware-SE 07. The interface is so nonsense and the update is annoying; keep on asking me to go to their special download or wat/ever.

Thanks big time Cricket. I new my computer was acting funny, after running all my tools I downloaded SuperAntiSpyware and found 2 trojans and a browser hijacker. Bye Bye Ad-aware

Cricket, did you drop spybot, or did you just never use it?

Spybot 1.5 has issues too - the auto updater freezes the program for a few minutes every time you start it.

Cricket, did you drop spybot, or did you just never use it?I stopped using it a few months ago for the reason that glc mentioned and it seems to have gotten kinda bloated. I stopped using Ad-Aware after trying the latest version (Ad-Aware 2007 Free) and found it to be kinda bloated too.

So what would be the best virus and spyware killer for XP Pro 64-bit? I know alot of those you named don't have 64-bit support. So who are the compatible players? or should i start a new thread?

Just to add to this thread, I have Ad-Aware 2007 installed, I find it fast adn effective. It will always find more things after AVG-Antispyware has ran.

Cricket, here's a new one I've been using for about a week and seem ok, its lite on the system and simple. http://www.orbitech.org/downloads.html is the download site and the name is Hazard Shield. Only down side is you have to have .NET framework 2. installed to run the program but Orbitech has a link on the download page. The program has several tools besides just being a malware tool.

Forgot to mention that Hazard Shield is free.

SpyBot fixed their issues with version 1.5.2. It runs a lot better now. No long delay at start. I saw this here in another thread. Tried it, and it does work.
