I am new to Vista and am setting up my wife's new desktop HP w/ Vista Home Premium. We have a dsl internet service, . In doing the system setup, I noticed that file sharing is ON. I looked up info in Help to try to turn the file sharing OFF, to no avail.
How can I turn off file sharing to promote our security?
thanks

Go to control panel>network and sharing> and from there you can turn settings on or off.

I guess I neglected to say that the system is running norton Internet Secur 2008. When I go to page indicated , it addresses turning on the WinVista Firewall , which would duplicate the Norton firewall.
Is there a way around this problem (other than turning off the Norton program's firewall?). Again, the object is to turn off File Sharing.
Thanks.

I don't see anything about firewall under network and sharing.
Try turning off Norton first, then going into that folder and turning off file sharing. After that, try turning back on the Firewall.
