An S-video connection will produce a poor quality display on the HDTV. You need to use either a DVI or VGA port on your video card, and either a component, DVI, or HDMI port on your HDTV to get a decent quality display.

DVI -> DVI (Use a DVI cable. Note that it should be 15' max length, or the picture quality may suffer.)

DVI -> HDMI (Use a DVI-to-HDMI adapter cable. Same as above for the adapter cable length.)

VGA -> component (Use a VGA-to-component transcoder)

Also, make sure the video card is set to the same resolution as the HDTV's native resolution(or as close as possible).

Your video card should have VGA. That is the blue 15-pin connection on the back. But if you're looking for a new card, we need to know about your PC first. If its home-built, post the specs. If it is a brand name, post the model number. :)

No. You can just you the VGA cable as most LCDs and probably yours have a VGA input.
