View Full Version : Automatic track splitting(?)

I have long audio presentations from speakers that I'd love to automatically split into tracks in 5 or 10 minute segments, but that can also burn seamlessly (not have a pause or hiccup going from track to another), as the splits will inevitably often be mid-sentence. I tried Splice and then burning with Nero (checking "no pauses between tracks") but that wasn't satisfactory. Any suggestions? Oh - an important thing: I'd love for any suggested software to be FREE, of course.
Thanks for any help on this.

What did you use to Splice before burning with Nero?

Whoops. I wrote "Splice" when the utility app is actually called "Slice" - downloaded from http://www.nch.com.au/splitter/index.html (version 1.0).

It did exactly what I wanted with 5 minute segments, but when I saved the newly created tracks and brought them into Nero to burn an audio CD, the transitions between tracks were noticeable, unlike another process I tried, which is: manually inserting track splits with Nero (Ultimate 7) WaveEditor, saving the tracks as files, then bringing those files into Nero Express to burn an audio CD. The result of that process is good, for my purposes, but rather tedious, especially the part of manually inserting track splits.

My goal is simply to take long talks from speakers and split them into more "navigatable" segments for audio CDs.

Maybe Nero WaveEditor can do what I want with "automatic" insertion of track splits, but I haven't found that feature (yet).
