sata and ide install

I am new to the sata drives. This is my first install of a sata WD Caviar SE 16. Motherboard is Asus
M2V-MX SE with Win XP. I am also installing a DVD burner with an ide connection. The sata HD is going on sata1. Does the ide drive go on the primary ide or the secondary ide slot? Does the DVD burner get set to Master, Slave or Cable Select? Thanks in advance the helping me. Katie

It doesn't matter which IDE you connect it to. I'd go with Primary just because it is the first device. I set all of my IDE devices to Cable Select.
