I just built a new computer using this motherboard

http://www.newegg.com/product/product.aspx?Item=N82E16813186133

just noticed it's been deactivated on newegg, wonder why. I think it's a jam up board

Anyway, I have 5 SATA HDDs hooked up. I also have 2 IDE HDDS I would like to run also, but when I plug them in, the computer won't boot. I have the HDD jumpers on cable select. Is there a chnge in the bios I need to make.

Thanks

Make sure the hard drive is first in the boot order, and also make sure you designate the specific hard drive you want as the first bootable hard drive.

I don't want to boot from the IDE drives, just access data. I think thats the problem. I believe it's trying to boot from IDE. I have a SATA raptor with my OS on it as 1st boot priority

That's what I believe GLC was getting at, look for the option in your BIOS about the specific hard drive boot priority - you should be able to put the specific drive that holds your OS at the top of the list

That accounts for all but one SATA port - got an optical on that?

yea, a SATA dvd burner. I'm lovin this new rig. I do have one more question, if it's not too much trouble. I have a case with a front eSATA, where does that hook up?

SATA 6. Looks like you are already using it.

can I get a pci add on card eSATA to handle the front port? The ones I'v seen all go out Can I get one that stays internal?

You could probably use any standard internal card, but I'd recommend you get a PCI-E SATA 2.0 card for one or more of your internal drives and use the onboard SATA 6 for the eSATA.
