Hey everyone, my new pc is missing the ntdlr and hal.dll files and wont boot without a start up disc. I went here http://www.tinyempire.com/shortnotes/files/ntldr_missing.htm and got the boot disc and the ntdlr file. But i dont know where to put it, does it go in the system32 folder? also if I can copy the hal.dll file from my friends computer where do i put it? If thats not possible where can i download it?

The easiest thing to do would be a repair install using the OS's install disc.

Procedures for a repair reinstall are in the Tips and Tricks forum. If you do it right, ALL system files get replaced.

When you say new install, do you mean you formatted your hard drive and reinstalled windows?
If so, it should have installed all necessary files.

There's something wrong with your ISO or you didn't burn it correctly.

I usually use nero. Just make sure you burn the iso as an image.
Make sure you get Windows installed before you try overclocking it.

Please note that these 2 are booting files and your computer cannot boot without these files.
If your Installation CD is missing these files ,than your CD is corrupt. Please purchase a new installation CD and try installation from it.
