1. This thread applies on the XP Pro machine:
http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.php?t=165490
2. You should install NetBEUI on the XP machine.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/301041
3. The XP network wizard assigned a workgroup name. Note this, it's found in control panel, system, computer name. Default is usually MSHOME.
4. On the 98 box, control panel, networks. The following items need to be installed:
Client for Microsoft Networks
File and Print Sharing for Microsoft Networks
A network adapter
NetBEUI -> the network adapter
(there may be more, but those are minimum)
5. Primary logon needs to be set to Microsoft Networks, not Windows Logon.
6. The workgroup name must match.
