I just put a system together and it just doesn't seem as fast as i thought it would be.
specs:
e6400 @ 266 x 8
DFI965S @ at optimized defults
2 gigs ddr2 800mhz OCZ plat (2 x 1)
* here is were things get fishy.
- getting just under 4 ghz bandwidth witch i am very happy with.
- here are the timings as specified by mother board
- trdwr = 8 = read to write delay
- twrpw = 6 = ranks read to write
- trdrd = 6 = ranks read to read
- twrrd = 5 = ranks write to read
I have the memory @ 2.1 volts, defualt was 1.9
This DFI board is confusing. the manufacturer memory specs are @ 4-4-4-15 @ ~ 2.1 volts when i tried putting in values
15
4
4
4
the system would not even boot and i had to remove battery to reset bios.
The Computer i have at home is an e6600 at stock setting on an ASUS 965 p5b-e. I thought this new DFI rig would be somewhat comparable to the e6600 but it seems way slower. Better than the AMD 4600+ lenovo i use at work but way slower than the e6600. Oh the e660 has a 8800gts and the e6400 has an $25 ati card i got off newegg. I don't know if that would make a difference in speed or not. I'm not using it for gaming just MS office, email, ect.
i ran Prime 95 all night and there were no errors. Temps were
CPU = 44 celcius
NB = 43 c
System = 25 c
So does all this look normal? Does only having 2 megs of cache really slow it down that much or is there more going on here? Anyone know how to set the memory timings?
Thanks for the help. :))
