View Full Version : How do you unscrew a lightbulb?

I am trying to change the headlamp bulb on a 2005 Chrysler Crossfire. It looks like I could attack it from the lense cover on the front (unlikely) or from the rear inside the engine compartment (more likely). The bulb is buried deep down inside a plastic shroud that covers all the bulbs and I cannot even feel it much less see it. I was able to remove a rubber water seal on the back and see what possibly looks like two electrical terminals? I pulled on it and tried twisting it but it would not budge.

I have looked all over Google for an answer and cannot seem to find one. Does anyone know how to change one out or know where to look for an answer?

Thanks

Oh yeah...the answer is by asking the computer people at PCMech. Where else? :)

The Crossfire appears to be fitted with H7 halogens, these are usually held in with a spring clip.
Have a look at the back of the lamp to see if there is a bright steel (maybe chrome) wire clip with a circle of wire on the end held under a plastic clip/part of the head lamp. If there is just push both ends of the spring clip towards the lamp and unhook them, hopefully it will then hinge up towards you allowing the bulb to come loose.

rj,
Your right about it being an H7 bulb. I went back and removed an electronic module so I could get my eyes down in there and with a flashlight I saw the retaining clip you described. It worked.

Thanks so much! :)

I think David Drisley needs to start a website for car help as well. :)
